Festival Theme

CLIMATE is a word we generally use on the general development of a situation or opinions that exists at a particular time.

It’s a term of a concept that has been used historically to describe both politics and public reactions to political actions in various forms.

The theme for our short film’s entry call is CLIMATE, a theme we decided to strongly stand by, to express the current political or social state of our country, as we look at the upcoming General Election and how it will potentially shape the nation’s future.

The total cash prizes are RM10,000 and chosen submissions will be screened on the day of the Festival under ‘Official Selection’ as a recognition for filmmaking talent.

Submissions for HSFF will close on 1 March 2023 and submission is FREE.

In order to submit a film to HSFF, you have to send the film and the completed entry form to the Festival via FilmFreeway before the given deadline.

In any case, the Festival asks you to carefully read its ‘Submitting Your Project to Horizon Short Film Festival’ under “Horizon 2023” section.
